Tips for Excellent Coffee At Home
Grind your coffee fresh and right before brewing.
Grind your coffee to match the brewing style. In general fine for espresso, medium for filter coffee and coarse for french press.
Use a scale to measure your coffee and water. This allows for consistency and use the following ratios of water to coffee 2:1 for espresso and 16 (slightly stronger) or 18 (slightly weak):1 for filter/french press.
Used filtered water or reverse osmosis water. Coffee is 98% water and poor tasting water will effect the coffee.
When making a french press only heat the water to 180°F (82°C), this helps cut out some astringency in the cup. Plus it allows you to drink your coffee sooner with out burning your tongue.
Try new coffees! By trying new coffees and regions you haven’t drank before can help you find great tasting coffee.
